Former NYPD Commish: Never Seen Such Dissension Between Police and a Mayor
Former NYPD Commissioner Bernie Kerik joined Megyn Kelly on "The Kelly File" tonight to react to the murders of two NYPD officers and what he calls "a war on police."
Kerik said it's lies that officers target minorities and there is pervasive racism in police departments across the country.
Cops simply go where the crime is, Kerik said, noting that Eric Garner's own wife and daughter acknowledged that his death at the hands of an NYPD officer had nothing to do with race.
"Yet we continue to hear Sharpton, de Blasio and others bashing this drum that cops are racist," Kerik said. "This whole war on cops, the assassination of these two cops, is based on lies."
"When you’re a politician, and you’re a true leader, you can’t make reckless statements," he said, adding that he believes New York City would be better-served with a different mayor.
"I’ve never seen any dissension between the police and a mayor like this – never."
