Ex-CIA Lawyer: Top Dems Were Briefed on Interrogation Methods
John Rizzo, former CIA chief legal officer, was on “The Real Story” today to discuss a newly released report on the CIA's enhanced interrogation methods.
Rizzo was the first lawyer in the government to be briefed on the enhanced interrogation techniques. The program began after he received a memo from the Justice Department on Aug. 1, 2002, Rizzo said.
According to Rizzo, leadership was briefed in detail about these techniques, including top Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Jay Rockefeller.
“They were in it from the beginning and expressed no objections,” he said.
Rizzo said that he “firmly” believes these interrogation methods led to the takedown of Usama bin Laden.
