Giuliani: What Has Sharpton Done for Black Community?
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani was on “The O’Reilly Factor” tonight, where he discussed policing in America and Al Sharpton.
“The narrative that the police are the cause of everything […] gets great attention. It gets them attention, if we’re talking about the Sharptons and these other people, it’s the reason why people pay attention to them,” Giuliani said.
While Giuliani was mayor of New York, he said he froze Sharpton out, remarking that he did not seem to have a legitimate interest in solving problems. That’s why Giuliani said that Sharpton and others disliked the former mayor.
“I turned New York City from the crime capital of America to the safest large city in America in four years, and the major beneficiary of that was the black community. And what have they done for the black community for 30 years except watch a lot of people get killed and blame it on the cops?”
