Two New York boys are OK after they were buried by a snow plow Wednesday night.

The boys, aged 9 and 11, went out to build a snow fort in Newburgh and were accidentally trapped by a snow plow.

A police officer’s hunch is being credited for saving the day after Officer Brandon Rola said he saw old footprints and a shovel in the snow.

"After I saw the shovel, I just felt compelled to dig […] I really didn't put it together, but I just started digging,” he told FoxNews.com.

Police and neighbors worked together, frantically digging until the boys were free.

Luckily, an air pocket kept the two alive.
