Three Americans are among the dead in an attack this morning on a synagogue in Jerusalem.

The fourth person killed was a British national, Conor Powell reported on "Fox and Friends" moments ago.

Six people were wounded in the brutal attack when two Palestinians armed with knives, axes and a pistol stormed the building. They were then killed by police in a shootout.

"They stabbed people once, twice, a few times to make sure they did the job. Very bad, very bad," a first responder said at the scene.

Powell said the two attackers were from east Jerusalem and the violence comes amid escalating threats between Jews and Palestinians in the area.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Israel will "respond harshly" to the attack, which he denounced as a "cruel murder of Jews who came to pray and were killed by despicable murderers."

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said he spoke to Netanyahu after the assault and denounced it as an "act of pure terror and senseless brutality and violence."
