Injured Soldier Says Army Gave His Dog Up for Adoption
An injured veteran says that the Army has taken away the dog that served with him.
Army Spc. Brent Grommet and combat dog Matty served together in Afghanistan, where both were injured in a bomb blast. Grommet returned with spinal injuries, PTSD, hearing loss, and migraines. His dog was hurt, too.
The veteran’s father, Don Grommet, went “On The Record” tonight to tell his son’s story. He said that his son filled out the adoption papers for Matty, but that Matty somehow ended up being adopted by another family.
Under Robby’s Law, soldiers have the sole right to adopt their combat dogs if they want to.
