In a speech today, President Obama announced the nomination of Loretta Lynch, the US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, as the replacement for Attorney General Eric Holder.

If confirmed, Lynch will become the first African-American woman in the job, succeeding Holder, who was the first African-American head of the Justice Department.
