There are reports of voting irregularities in more than a dozen precincts in Virginia Beach, Va. – and fat fingers may be to blame.

Machines are reportedly switching some votes for Republican Rep. Scott Rigell to Democratic opponent Suzanne Patrick.

One voter says he was told that his fingers were too fat for the machine and that he should have used a Q-Tip. Election officials say long fingernails could also trigger a wrong vote.

Problem machines have been removed and will continue to be removed throughout the day.

Meanwhile, Rigell is urging voters to double-check their selection.

In Harford, Conn., two dozen precincts didn’t have lists to show which voters were registered, causing some people to be turned away.

Over in Georgia, the state’s election website – which provides polling locations – was down for awhile.
