'The Factor': Megyn Reveals How Marine Jailed in Mexico Was Freed
Megyn Kelly joined Bill O'Reilly on "The O'Reilly Factor" tonight to discuss how U.S. lawmakers negotiated Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi's release from Mexican prison after 214 days and how other news networks covered the story.
Kelly explained that Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Rep. Matt Salmon (R-AZ), former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson and Montel Williams went to Mexico last week to meet with the Attorney General of Mexico and other Mexican officials.
After several days of discussions and negotiations, the attorney general instructed the prosecutor to drop the federal charges against Tahmooressi.
Fox News has covered the story consistently since day one, O'Reilly noted, but other networks didn't give it as much attention.
According to Kelly, CNN gave Tahmooressi's imprisonment the second most coverage to Fox News, followed by ABC, with MSNBC barely mentioning it at all.
In defense of those networks, Kelly pointed out that it was a legal case, making it more fitting for those who share opinions, such as O'Reilly or Greta Van Susteren, as opposed to those to solely report news.
Watch the clip above and be sure to tune in to Fox News Channel's election coverage tomorrow at 6p ET, co-anchored by Kelly and Bret Baier.
