A Florida couple has outfitted a special boat to bring wounded warriors out on the water.

Capt. Andrew Grego and his wife Karen, of Blue Water Warriors, adapted the boat for wheelchairs so that wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan can enjoy time on the water. A $50,000 Seakeeper gyro stabilizer was also donated to keep the boat steady.

A soldier who lost both legs in an IED explosion in Afghanistan was one of the advisors of the boat’s design, and he says it will be a real help to injured veterans.

The Gregos say they’re just trying to help wounded warriors in the best way they can.

“They go out there, they defend the country, they defend our way of life. They come back, they’re permanently changed, they have to adapt and change their lives […] We just thought it was the right thing to do,” Andrew Grego said.
