Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) was on “Hannity” tonight to weigh in on President Barack Obama’s address on the ISIS strategy.

Paul said Obama should have come before a joint session of Congress to lay out his plan as he did tonight, then called for a vote on whether or not to authorize war.

“It isn’t the constitutional way […] it is unconstitutional what he’s doing.”

However, Paul said Obama made an important point about ISIS not being a form of true Islam.

“Ultimately, civilized Islam will have to step up,” Paul said, explaining that the U.S. will ultimately need Islamic allies.

“While I do support doing whatever it takes to take out ISIS, we need to remember how we got here, and the reason we got here is because we took it upon ourselves to topple secular dictators who are the enemy of radical Islam.”
