'My America': What Does It Take To Be a Ballperson at the US Open?
Get an inside look at the tryouts to be a ballperson at the US Open tomorrow at 8:20a ET when Fox and Friends presents 'My America With Elisabeth Hasselbeck'!
Kathy Delaney, the assistant director of ballpersons, runs the tryouts like a drill sergeant. She's looking for athleticism and attitude as she cuts the list of 400 people trying out down to fill just 80 to 100 slots.
Although the pay for ballpersons isn't great - $7.75 an hour - the tryouts attract people from all walks of life, and ages range from 14 to 63.
Veteran ballperson and talent evaluator at the tryouts Joe Laskowski said, "You have two of the greatest players on the court right in front of you. It's so thrilling out there, seeing every point unfold. It's something you can't experience just watching on TV."
Tune in to 'My America With Elisabeth Hasselbeck' tomorrow at 8:20a ET to see who makes the cut!
