Ravens Release Ray Rice After Video Shows Vicious Punch of Wife
The Baltimore Ravens just announced that they have terminated the contract of running back Ray Rice, who was caught on tape punching his then-fiance in the face.
It comes after a new video was released by TMZ showing Rice delivering the vicious punch inside a hotel elevator.
Previously, TMZ had only released hotel surveillance video of Rice dragging an unconscious Janay Palmer out of the elevator.
Rice was suspended for two games by the NFL after the first video came out in a punishment that many criticized as too light.
The NFL has said it did not see video of the actual punch before handing down the suspension.
Rice also avoided prosecution after the February incident, agreeing to a pretrial intervention program that did not come with jail time.
The two were married the following month.
