On the road to recovery, Olympic swimmer Amy Van Dyken makes a remarkable comeback as she takes her first steps since an ATV accident left her paralyzed in June.
Less than three months since her spine was severed, Van Dyken shared the moment she walked for the first time on Instagram (video below).
Van Dyken won six gold medals in the 1996 and 2000 Olympics.
After her accident, she said in an emotional interview, “I’m so thankful to be alive and that’s why I can be positive about it. You know, it helps get me through the pain.”
