Outrageous Vietnam Vet Who Makes Furniture for Needy Military Families Could Face $1,000 Fine
A Vietnam War veteran who builds furniture in his garage for needy military families could now be forced to shut his operation down.
Dennis Kocher lives in a gated community called Lake of the Pines, which is east of Sacramento, Calif. Kocher said he has lived there for 10 years, where he has been building and repairing furniture to give to military families in need.
Now, the homeowners association says he must close shop or face a fine of up to $1,000. Kocher says the reason given is because the furniture is unsightly, and his work is emitting fumes. However, Kocher said his 15 immediate neighbors disagree.
Kocher said he is appealing the decision. A committee of residents will decide in August whether or not he can continue to make furniture there.
