Polar Vortex in July?
Is there a polar vortex coming your way this summer? Parts of the Midwest are feeling a blast of chilly air this week with temperatures in the mid-fifties in areas like Minneapolis.
But don’t start planning “Christmas in July” parties just yet. Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean explained what’s really going on.
“We have an amplified jet stream bringing cold air from yes, the polar regions, as well as the Gulf of Alaska sinking as far south as almost the Gulf Coast states,” she said, adding that it’s “a little weird for July.
And while it’s not a comfortable 75 degrees, Janice gave us some perspective. “It’s not the end of the world.”
