Israel’s military said Wednesday that it had struck around 200 sites linked to the Islamic militant group Hamas on the second day of an offensive aimed at stopping rocket attacks directed at key cities across Israel.

The army said sites that it attacked in Gaza Wednesday included 118 concealed rocket-launching sites, six Hamas compounds, 10 militant command centers, weapons storage facilities and 10 tunnels used for militant activity and to ferry supplies in from Egypt. The border between Gaza and Egypt has effectively been closed for months.

Militants, however, continued to fire rocket salvos deep into Israeli territory, and Israel mobilized thousands of forces along the Gaza border ahead of a possible ground operation.

Since the offensive began Tuesday, Israel has attacked more than 560 sites in Gaza, killing at least 41 people, according to The Associated Press. The strikes came after militants fired more than 160 rockets at Israel, including one that reached the northern Israeli city of Hadera for the first time. The city is about 60 miles from Gaza.

Israeli Ambassador: Palestinian Teen’s Killers ‘Will Not Be Hailed As Heroes’

Mike Huckabee was on “The Kelly File” to discuss the situation in Israel. He said Obama is raising funds when he should be dispatching the defense secretary and the secretary of state to Israel. Huckabee said Obama must also make a public statement that the U.S. fully supports Israel since “Hamas is nothing more than a puppet of Iran.”

“We need to suggest to the world that they back off, let Israel put Hamas out of business once and for all, do whatever it takes, including a ground operation in Gaza, and stop this nonsense because it’s escalating out of control, and nobody wins this except terrorism,” Huckabee said.

“You know, Megyn, it’s embarrassing to see that our policy has degenerated into something that might as well be, ‘Let’s all put our arms around Hamas and welcome them to the international family.’ This is a terrorist organization, our own state department says this is a terrorist organization,” Huckabee told Kelly.

He said that the U.S. should cut off monetary support to the Palestinians if they continue to partner with Hamas and said our nation’s stance must be bold and clear.

“We’re either for freedom or we’re for terrorism, we need to make up our minds what we’re for,” he said.

Huckabee also noted that Israel isn’t fighting for a small strip of real estate, explaining that “they’re fighting for their very existence” and comparing their region of land to the size of New Jersey.
