The results of Tuesday's World Cup matches have taken a backseat to the antics of star Uruguay striker Luis Suarez, who appears to have been caught on tape biting an opposing player. The video seems to clearly show Suarez biting the left shoulder of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini, who immediately fell to the ground late in the contest.

Chiellini then ran to the referee, pulling his shirt down to reveal what looked like a bite mark. Suarez did not receive a card, since the ref had not seen what happened.

Uruguay went on to a 1-0 victory to advance to the round of 16, while Italy was eliminated.

Suarez, who has already been punished twice in his career for biting an opponent now faces the prospect of a two-year ban.

The amazing scene sparked a frenzy on social media, with people posting compilation videos of all three bites and others creating photos of Suarez with vampire fangs or a Hannibal Lecter mask.

The craziness even inspired the tweet of the day from former heavyweight boxing champ Evander Holyfield, who had a chunk of his ear torn off in 1997 by Mike Tyson's infamous bite.
