A 63-year-old woman battling lung cancer found herself fighting off an intruder who was attempting to burglarize her Indiana home last week.

Patty Kearney and her husband, Donald, were watching television Monday when a burglar broke into their Indiana home, carrying a wrench.

When Kearney realized the intruder didn’t have a gun, she said she “snapped.” Kearney grabbed a back scratcher and hit him repeatedly with it until he dropped the wrench. Then, she hit him in the head with the wrench multiple times until he escaped.

“I don’t think he expected an overweight woman on oxygen to attack him, I really don’t.”
