Outrageous Veteran Suspended From Job After Scaring Off Knife-Wielding Would-Be Robber With Gun
A convenience store clerk’s decision to save his life has cost him his job after he defended himself against a would-be robber.
Don Pitaniello, 58, was suspended after he scared off a robber with his gun at Mac’s Convenience Store in Rutland, Vermont. The Vietnam War veteran said that the robber came in the store with a bag in one hand and a knife in the other.
“[He] came up to the counter, said, ‘Empty the register.’ ‘Really?’ And he made a motion with his hand with the knife, and that's when I took the pistol from behind me and brought it up, put it in his face and said, ‘You need to leave.’”
Pitaniello decided to leave his job due to the suspension but has found a new job at a different convenience store.
