Dr. Ben Carson was on “Fox and Friends” this weekend to discuss alternatives to the VA health care system and ObamaCare.

“I have managed to talk to a lot of people in the military,” he said. “They tell me that the level of enthusiasm has decreased dramatically. That’s dangerous for us because the military should be enthusiastic about their jobs, and we have a real obligation to make sure that they understand how much we appreciate them.”

Carson said there are too many layers of bureaucracy between the veterans and the people who want to help them, rendering it inefficient. He said that’s also why he’s worried about ObamaCare.

“If we can just start working together and forget about this my way or the highway stuff, we can take care of all of our citizens in a way that puts the health care in their hands, brings the whole medical system into the free market economy, which will control pricing and will control efficiency,” he said.

Of ObamaCare, he said, “I’m not sure it’s fixable. I’m in the camp of replacement,” citing a shift of power from the people to the government.

Carson said Americans must be knowledgeable and remember that we, the people, are “the pinnacle of power.”
