Greta Van Susteren joined ‘The Real Story’ today to react to both Press Secretary Jay Carney and Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki resigning.

On Carney, Greta said it was to be expected because he’s been there a long time.

She added, “It was pretty shrewd to do it today because now it’s going to take some of the attention away from the resignation of General Shinseki. So that may have been part of the decision to make the announcement today.”

Greta said the fact that Shinseki’s interim replacement, Sloan Gibson, hasn’t been at the VA for long may be a good thing.

The first task for Gibson, Greta said, is an aggressive and fair investigation into the waiting lists at the Phoenix VA hospital that may have contributed to the deaths of 40 veterans.

The federal government and VA officials aren’t the only one accountable.

Greta questioned, “Where were we? We all knew in 2008 when President Obama was running that he was running on this. You know, why didn’t we hold him accountable? Where has the media been on this? So I think there’s a lot of blame to go around and I think we all owe an apology to all our vets, and certainly the ones that have suffered so directly from this.”
