It was better late than never for one Oklahoma grandmother, who graduated high school after a 63-year delay.

Hazel Ellis, 81, married her husband when she was a junior in high school. Then, she got pregnant.

“And in 1951, you did not go to school pregnant, even if you were married. So, I didn't go to school," she said.

The school still had her records, which indicated that she needed to complete history and English classes.

Ellis celebrated her Sapula High School graduation with her three sons, grandchildren and her friends at a party at the First Christian Church.

When asked about college, Ellis said she’d rather take a trip to Hawaii.
