America's Newsroom shared this amazing story that came out of Massachusetts on Mother's Day weekend. A 23-year-old woman may never walk again after saving her 18-month-old son from a fire by jumping out of a third-floor window.

The woman cradled her young son and landed on her legs, and breaking her back in the fall.

According to WCVB-TV, Christina Simoes said the window was the "only way out" as smoke filled her apartment. Simoes underwent a six-hour surgery where a rod was placed in her back.

"I kissed him and told him I loved him and then I jumped," she said.

Doctors are not sure if she'll be able to walk again after suffering nerve damage. Simoes said when she landed, she lost feeling in her legs and had to crawl with her son to get out of the way of falling debris.

She and her son, who was not injured, were reunited at the hospital.

Simoes' story quickly went viral over the weekend. A GoFundMe page that was set up for the family has already brought in more than $14,000 through hundreds of donations in just a few days.
