Exclusive: Boehner Discusses Benghazi Investigation With Maria Bartiromo
This weekend, Maria Bartiromo sits down with House Speaker John Boehner for an exclusive interview on Sunday Morning Futures.
Today, Boehner named six Republicans to the select committee chaired by Rep. Trey Gowdy that will investigate the September 2012 Benghazi attack, leaving five spots open for Democrats. However, Dems are contemplating having only one member on the panel or boycotting it altogether.
In a sneak peek of Sunday’s interview, above, Bartiromo asks Speaker Boehner about those possibilities.
He said, “We are going to go seek the facts from the administration. Understand why we’re here. I don’t want to do this. This is unnecessary. But for 20 months, the White House has refused to tell the Congress the truth, they refuse to tell the American people the truth.”
Boehner said all the administration has to do is turn over all of the documents related to Benghazi in order to avoid the investigation.
On Happening Now, Bartiromo said the speaker wants to get to the bottom of why a terrorist attack happened at a U.S. consulate on September 11 and why the administration falsely blamed a video.
Bartiromo explained that "there’s not a budget that he can talk to us about surrounding the committee and he doesn’t have a timeline, but he is expecting them to get to the bottom of these attacks and why four Americans were killed,”
