Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber sprang into action when he noticed a woman lying unconscious on the ground. The 67-year-old Democrat, who's running for re-election this year, jumped out of the car and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.

The governor was traveling through downtown Portland last night when he noticed the woman on the ground and people trying to help. He reportedly told his driver to pull over and instructed his security guards to call 911.

The woman, who is expected to survive, is suspected to have suffered a drug overdose. Paramedics took over life-saving efforts after a few minutes of help from Kitzhaber.
