A Minnesota couple accused of welfare fraud today made another unsuccessful attempt to get out of jail.

Earlier this month, Andrea and Colin Chisholm were arrested for allegedly using welfare benefits in two states despite living on a $1.2 million yacht, driving a Lexus and having about $2.6 million in various bank accounts.

Colin Chisholm’s attorney Thomas Kelly said they are each being held on $300,000 bail, and they are incapable of paying that. He said the state thinks they attempted to flee the charges, but Kelly said they actually had a business opportunity in the Bahamas that they had left the states for.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for June 9.
