Boston Strong: Team MR8 to Run in Honor of 8-Year-Old Bombing Victim
A group of runners is getting ready to participate in the Boston Marathon in honor of 8-year-old bombing victim Martin Richard.
Richard was one of three people killed in the bombings at last year’s race.
Just days after the tragedy, Chris Peterson, a friend of the Richard family, launched a campaign to raise more than $1 million for the family’s recovery, some of which has gone toward forming the MR8 Foundation.
More than 250 people applied to run for a spot on Team MR8, and 100 people were placed on the team. Members range from friends and teachers to perfect strangers.
