More than 100 people were arrested Saturday night during a spring break party that raged out of control near the University of California Santa Barbara.

The annual blowout located in Isla Vista, Calif. is known as "Deltopia" and draws about 15,000 people.

On The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson, Trace Gallagher had more details about how the riot started.

"A student allegedly assaulted a police officer and when that student was arrested the crowd did not like it, they began tossing rocks and bottles, and the police responded by firing tear gas and pepper spray," said Gallagher.

That was when things took a turn for the worse.

Gallagher reported, "Partiers started breaking windows, pulling down street signs and rocking cars."

Five deputies and one campus police officer were injured and more than 44 people were taken to hospitals.
