Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird was on “Sunday Morning Futures” today to discuss the status of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which could create thousands of jobs for both the United States and Canada.

Baird noted that a State Department report found the project would not have an adverse impact on the environment. He said he hopes President Barack Obama will make a positive decision within the next month or two.

“This is about job creation, it’s also about North American energy security,” he said, stressing that we don’t want to be energy dependent on Russia or Iran.

Baird said the jobs created by the pipeline would be in the best economic interest of both the U.S. and Canada.
