Peters: Fmr. CIA Director 'Cooked the Books' on Benghazi to Help Obama
The CIA’s top officer on the ground at the time of the September 2012 Benghazi attack will testify before Congress today for the first time.
His testimony comes a day before former CIA deputy director Michael Morell will be in the hot seat about the CIA talking points. The document falsely blamed the deadly attack on protests against an anti-Islamic movie.
Fox News strategic analyst Lt. Col. Ralph Peters said it appears that Morell “cooked the books for political reasons.”
He said it’s the intelligence community’s duty to honestly report to the president what the facts are on the ground.
“The one thing you do not want to do in this country is to turn intelligence into politics,” Peters said, adding that President Obama and the administration lied to the American people knowingly.
Peters believes David Petraeus, who served as the CIA director at the time of the attack, should be given to the chance to tell the truth under oath.
He said, “When it comes to testimony, you put them under oath and if they lie, you hit them for perjury. That’s the only way you get to the bottom of this stuff.”
