GOOD NEWS Quick-Thinking Couple Uses Mattress to Break Toddler’s Fall From 3rd-Story Window
A California couple was in the right place at the right time and carrying a key object to help save a toddler.
Konrad and Jenny Lightner were moving out of their Burbank home when they spotted a 3-year-old boy about to fall out of a third-story window.
“My son pushed out the screen and decided it was really fun to throw toys out there,” the child’s mother, Morgane Milligan, told KTLA.
The quick thinking couple happened to be carrying a box spring mattress and positioned it on the ground as the little boy swung his legs over the window. Jenny called 911 while Konrad waited to catch the boy.
The 3-year-old hung from a telephone wire briefly before falling. Konrad caught the little boy and cushioned him into the box spring.
“We were just shocked, I mean, it was so fast,” Konrad said of the situation.
“It was so intense in the moment, and then now, it just seems like it didn’t even happen to us personally,” Jenny said.
The child’s parents were in the other room at the time of the fall.
The little boy did not suffer any major injuries, but was taken to the hospital for observation.
