The Wall Street Journal recently interviewed business women about how to say “no” more effectively.

Today on The Five, Greg Gutfeld said in his monologue, “The fact is we all say yes not simply to avoid awkwardness but to avoid being disliked.”

He asked, “Where does fear of ‘no’ lead? Detroit, Stockton, Harrisburg, San Bernardino. Behind every bankrupt city is a big, fat yes.”

Gutfeld said countries in the world that say “no” are winning, while the “yes man” countries have become nanny states with bloated governments.

“It’s time to reanimate the word no and say it more often. Besides, soon we may have no choice. There will come a time when we don’t have the means to say yes.”
