Rachel Jeantel, the prosecution's star witness in the murder trial against George Zimmerman known previously only as witness #8, testified in a Florida courtroom today.

Charges Dropped Against EMT Who Refused Care to Dying Pregnant Woman

Jurors strained to hear Jeantel as she recounted phone calls with Trayvon Martin, her friend who was shot and killed during an encounter with Zimmerman in 2012. She was on the phone with Martin moments before he was killed and was the last person to speak with him.

It's expected that the defense team for Zimmerman will question Jeantel as to why she lied about not being able to attend his funeral, making up a story about having to be at the hospital on the same day. It was later revealed she was never there at all.

During the cross-examination, the witness became hostile with Zimmerman’s defense attorney. “Are you listening?” she pressed him at one point.

He replied, “One more time. I’m sorry, I was distracted.”

The defense will try to prove that she has a credibility problem, due to lies over her age and why she didn’t attend Martin’s wake.
