The temperature during a panel discussion on Fox News Sunday skyrocketed quickly when Juan Williams and Karl Rove went head-to-head on the topic of last year's attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The two debated whether Republicans ginned up a "phony scandal" surrounding the attack or if their cries for answers were reasonable.

Rove contended, as he has in previous appearances, that the White House misled the American people, lying to them about the circumstances surrounding the attack.

“The American people have a legitimate question: why were efforts not undertaken to save our people?” Rove asked.

Efforts made by Williams to rebut the claims were shot down by Rove, and the two trudged on, a shouting match quickly forming.

“You’re all in the weeds here,” Williams said. “You continue to prosecute this like there’s some huge crime. Stop living in the past, and trying to get after Susan Rice or whoever...”

Rove blasted back, saying, “You may be comfortable with the American people being told a deliberate lie by the administration, but I’m not, and I think we need to get to the bottom of it."

Williams shrugged off Rove's indignation.

“It’s gone baby,” Williams said. “It’s in your head. That’s about the only place.”
