Believe it or not, a woman in Japan with a condition that should have prevented her from ever giving birth recently did just that, welcoming a healthy baby boy to the world. The miraculous birth was made possible thanks to cutting-edge fertility treatment, specifically called in-vetro activation.

Dr. Jamie Grifo is the program director at NYU's Fertility Center and gave Alisyn Camerota some insight into the technology that's making such a feat possible, and who could benefit from it.

In this particular case, the woman in question had been diagnosed with POF - an infertility condition that is very rare and affects a small percentage of women. It involves the woman, in essence, going through menopause prematurely.
