D.C. Police Chief: 1 Shooter Dead, Potentially 2 More on the Loose in Navy Yard Shooting
In a briefing held just moments ago, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier told the press that one suspected shooter is deceased following Monday's shooting at the U.S. Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. Lanier also said that there potentially may be two other shooters on the loose.
She would not confirm the number of fatalities but said that there were "multiple" deceased.
Lanier described the first potential surviving shooter as a white male who was last seen around 8:35a ET wearing a short-sleeved khaki military uniform and a beret hat and possibly carrying a handgun. The second surviving possible shooter was described as a black male, approximately 50 years of age, who may have been in possession of a long gun. Witnesses say he was wearing an olive-colored possibly military-style uniform.
There is no information that indicates either man is military personnel, but that they are wearing military style uniforms. Lanier urged anyone with information to call the Metro Police Department at 202-727-9099.
