O’Reilly: 'If There's Not a Smidgen of Corruption at IRS, Why Won't Lerner Testify?'
Bill O’Reilly tonight discussed the IRS scandal in his Talking Points Memo.
There have been allegations that the IRS targeted conservative groups and tried to deny them tax-exempt status. Congress has been trying to get to the bottom of this for a year, and the FBI is also investigating.
But the nation still doesn’t know what happened because the people involved have been taking the Fifth, O’Reilly said.
President Barack Obama recently told O’Reilly that there was “not even a smidgen of corruption” in the IRS.
“If that’s true, why did former IRS big shot Lois Lerner […] take the Fifth? Why not just explain what happened in a calm, rational manner?” O’Reilly asked.
“Talking Points does not know who in the IRS violated the law but I do believe someone did,” he said, adding that there’s evidence pointing to people in the White House.
O’Reilly said the House Oversight Committee isn’t getting anywhere, with members of it fighting among themselves.
“All in all, the IRS chaos continues, and we the people still don’t know what really happened.”
