Is Yelling the New Spanking?
Research shows spanking children can lead to aggressive behavior, so parents have moved to yelling. But a study published last fall found that harsh verbal discipline increased teens’ conduct problems and symptoms of depression.
According to the study, 45 percent of mothers and 42 percent of fathers of 13 year olds reported using harsh verbal discipline over a one-year period.
The hosts of “The Five” discussed ways to discipline children. Eric Bolling said kids hate when you give them the cold shoulder. Bob Beckel said he would take his kids’ phones away so that they can’t text or communicate.
“Whispering is so much more powerful than yelling,” Greg Gutfeld said. “Try whispering at a kid, they are terrified.”
