Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez said there’s a lot of confusion out there about nutrition.
“Each book contradicts the previous book, [people] end up more confused than when they started and often end up not feeling any better,” Gonzalez said.
According to Gonzalez, different people need different diets. Carol Alt and Gonzalez said people should eat the way that their ancestors ate.
If you’re unsure, Gonzalez said to follow your tastes and proclivities.
“Forget what the experts say – experts always lead to confusion – if you really enjoy pot roast and fatty bacon and you dream about it, that’s probably what you need. If the idea of pot roast makes you gag, I can guarantee you’re on the vegetarian side, you need fruits and vegetables,” he said.
