A heroic convenience store employee snapped into action when an armed man tried to rob the store.

Joe Williams had just finished his shift at the Arco AMPM store in Richmond, California when the attempted robbery happened.

Surveillance video shows the clerk behind the register try to wrestle the gun from the man’s hand. That’s when Williams stepped in, picked up the man and body slammed him to the ground. He held the man down until police arrived and made the arrest.

Richmond Police Department Captain Mark Gagen praised Williams, but warned against people taking this type of action against armed assailants.

Williams said, “I’m proud of myself. I did a good deed. That’s how I look at it.”
