San Francisco Police Warn of Poison Meatballs Targeting Dogs
Police in San Francisco are warning about poison meatballs that are being placed along roads in an effort to target dogs. Animal Control found 35 of the raw meatballs, which appear to be mixed with a poison substance, over the weekend after a call from a concerned resident.
Acting Lt. Denise BonGiovanni said the meatballs have been "incredibly well-hidden," placed along curbs and in shrubbery where dogs could find them without their owner noticing.
Police are testing the meatballs to confirm whether they're poisonous.
Last summer one dog died in a similar incident and another was sickened.
