McCain Urges Arizona Gov. to Veto Religious Freedom Bill
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) is pushing Arizona Governor Jan Brewer (R) to veto a bill that gives businesses the right to refuse service to anyone based on religious reasons.
Critics argue that it allows for legalized discrimination against the LGBT community.
The senator said regardless of whether the bill is discriminatory, the impression that it is can affect tourism, Arizona’s economy and job creation.
McCain, who is on the Senate Armed Services Committee, also spoke out against Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel’s plans to shrink the size of the Army. The senator called the cuts "draconian" and said decreases in the military budget are being transferred over to increases in domestic spending.
Furthermore, he said it can harm America’s ability to protect itself.
