Woman Suing Bank, Credit Bureau That Falsely Declared Her Dead
A Missouri woman is suing her bank and a credit bureau because they have falsely declared her dead.
Kimberly Haman says Heartland Bank of St. Louis declared her dead nearly a year ago, then passed that information along to Equifax. She has since been denied a new credit card and blocked from refinancing her mortgage.
Equifax said in a statement, “Equifax reports consumer account information as provided by its furnishers, which are banks, retailers, credit card companies, etc… Because of ongoing litigation, we are unable to comment further.”
Heartland Bank has not commented on the lawsuit.
