Officials at the Harwinton School sent letters to parents telling them not to send their children to school with candy on Valentine’s Day.

The letter said that officials are "working to encourage healthy practices as well as manage food choices in classrooms where food allergies are present."

Stacey Sefcik, who has a second-grader and a fourth-grader at the school, said that officials told her they banned Valentine’s Day candy to adhere to the school’s wellness policy.
