Obama on Gender Equality: 'Mad Men' Policies Don't Belong in the Workplace
President Obama urged the country to come together for gender equality in the workplace in his 2014 State of the Union address.
He stressed that women still make 77 cents for every dollar that a man makes.
“That is wrong, and in 2014, it’s an embarrassment,” he said. “A woman deserves equal pay for equal work … It’s time to do away with workplace policies that belong in a ‘Mad Men’ episode.”
Obama called on Congress, the White House and businesses across the country to come together and help give women more opportunities. “Because I firmly believe when women succeed, America succeeds,” he said.
