Police Identify Gunman in Fatal Maryland Mall Shooting
The gunman in Saturday's shooting at Mall in Columbia in Maryland has been identified as 19-year-old Darion Marcus Aguilar, Howard County police say.
Police say Aguilar opened fire at the packed mall and took two lives before turning the gun on himself. The victims were identified as 21-year-old Brianna Benlolo and 25-year-old Tyler Johnson.
Authorities have not yet been able to determine if there was a connection between the gunman and the victims, but say Aguilar and Benlolo were both from College Park.
The shooter was dropped off by a taxi roughly one hour before the first 911 call came in. He fired between six and eight shots, leaving behind a backpack filled with homemade IEDs.
Authorities scoured the mall overnight using a robot and an explosives dog. They say the mall is clear, but will remain closed today.
