Grief-Stricken Parents Forgive Daughter's Killer After School Shooting
At a memorial service Wednesday for their daughter, the grief-stricken parents of 17-year-old Claire Davis forgave her killer.
Davis was shot to death at Arapahoe High School last month by a fellow student, 18-year-old Karl Pierson.
Pierson shot Davis before killing himself, and Davis died more than a week later.
“We would ask all of you here and all of you watching to forgive Karl Pierson,” said Michael Davis as he choked back tears.
He explained that Pierson had "allowed himself to become filled with anger, rage and hatred. ... The fact is that Karl was so blinded by his emotions he didn’t know what he was doing.”
Davis said his daughter's last words were, "Oh my gosh, Karl, what are you doing?" before he shot her in the head.
