Trump: MS-13 'Transformed Peaceful Parks into Killing Fields'

'He Never Laid Out Principles': GOP Rep Says Trump Shares Blame for Repeal Failure

The parents of a New York student who was murdered - allegedly by MS-13 members - reacted to President Trump's speech in their hometown.

Kayla Cuevas was brutally beaten and stabbed to death by several suspected gang members in Brentwood, N.Y. last year.

Trump spoke about the violent gang's impact on the Long Island community.

The president said that, while growing up in Queens, he never imagined such a dangerous problem could exist only 30 miles from his home.

Cuevas' mother, Evelyn Rodriguez, said her daughter was targeted because of an icy relationship she had with some of her fellow students.

She said Cuevas was threatened by MS-13 members for at least two years before she was killed in 2016.

Authorities called Cuevas' death a "homicidal overreaction to a school dispute," Martha MacCallum reported.

Rodriguez praised Trump's appearance, saying it was good to see that the president knew the gang problems and violence that existed in her area.
