Dr. Phil McGraw joined Megyn Kelly tonight to talk about a number of topics, including why he thinks America has become too sensitive.
He said that not everyone can be pleased.
"We're going to raise a generation where they're going to try and please everybody," he stated. "You can't please everybody. Somebody is going to have a problem with whatever you do...You might as well just do what you want to do anyway."
Dr. Phil pointed out that some people have a problem with what he does every day on his hit TV show.
"I have two attitudes about that," he explained. "Number one, I am not one of those people that needs to be loved by strangers. Number two, you've got a remote control."
He said that it would be great if everybody loved him, but "the haters are going to hate, and the lovers are going to love."
Kelly also discussed her life philosophy, that came from a quote by Dr. Phil, who said, "The only difference between you and someone you envy is that you settle for less."
She told Dr. Phil that his quote inspired her and that she now settles for more.
"That means a lot that I've had that impact on you," he told her. "I take that as a great compliment, because you've done so much with that."
He explained that he thinks people make choices that determine who they become in life.
"There are moments in life, where all things wrong can be made right," he said.
Watch above as Megyn talks about the advice that helped her make the move from an "unhappy lawyer" to a successful TV news reporter. In the video below, Dr. Phil weighs in on whether America is "infantilizing" our kids.
